It’s not unusual to experience fear. We often fear the unknown, disease, loss, and other situations that life throws at us unexpectedly. However, fear has a way of taking over our lives and robbing us of peace and hope.
2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (NKJV).
You can have this peace, hope, and sound mind. They are God’s gifts to you! He gives them freely because He cares for you and wants the best for you.
The Bible gives us clear direction on how to receive this promise of hope in Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Finding hope also requires us to have faith in God. Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
If you’ll place your trust in God – have faith and believe in Him – he promises to reward you!
Regardless of the situation you find yourself in, or the problems that you face, there is a Power that is bigger and able to overcome it. Jesus once said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
That means that, without exception, there is nothing you can face that God can’t handle!
The author of Psalm 56:11 said, “In God will I trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” That doesn’t mean we’re never afraid, but rather when fear comes we will choose to trust in God.
Putting your trust in God is the refusal to give in to anxiety, fear, and hopelessness. This kind of confidence in God will come from knowing Him and understanding that He wants the best for you and your family. We must resist the temptation to blame God when bad things happen, but understand that we can take all of our cares and troubles to Him.
“The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.” (Lam 3:24)
“…all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.” (Rom 8:28)
